Vigil held in Largo for 18-year-old PGCPS Student fatally shot

A crowd of about a hundred people gathered in Riverdale Friday night to remember a teenager killed at a house party exactly a week earlier.

18-year-old Joseph Abariko’s godmother said he would have been a senior at Parkdale High School in Prince George’s County this coming school year. Instead his family is struggling to find the money for his burial.

Prince George’s County Police said Abariko was at a house party in the 11500 block of Bennington Drive in the Kettering area on the night of Friday, August 7. They said there was a fight, and when they arrived they found Abariko bleeding outside from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

As of the vigil no one had been arrested.

“The hardest part is not knowing who did this, the hardest part is that nobody’s even saying anything,” said Marcia Jordan, Abariko’s sister, who talked to ABC 7 News at Friday night’s vigil.

Although Abariko was killed in Kettering, he lived in Riverdale. The vigil was held at the Auburn Manor apartment complex in Riverdale, Md.
