A Maryland track coach was arrested on Wednesday after police say he had an inappropriate relationship with a student.
Charles Wolford, 23, is a track coach at Fairmont Heights High School and also a teacher’s assistant at Gladys N. Spellman Elementary. He has been charged with sexual abuse of a minor.
Police say the sexual acts occurred within the last week and happened off of school grounds. Police do not believe there is any other victims.
Wolford has been a school employee for four and a half years.
Sexual abuse scandals in the county might continue after former PGCPS board member and former Maryland state Board President Dr. Charlene Dukes covered up crimes and failed to conduct hearings in the county concerning the same after she was given the mandate.
The task force was created in the aftermath of the widely publicized child-pornography case involving Deonte Carraway, 22, a school volunteer arrested in early February on suspicion of directing children as young as 9 to perform sex acts and video-recording them.
The current fiasco seen in PGCPS have ties to corrupt Ms Duke who failed to review Union misconduct involving the Executives. Ms. Duke was also responsible for hiring Maxwell in order to benefit personally through an organized scheme after she was awarded millions of dollars to start a program at Prince George’s Community college.
Kevin Maxwell, chief executive of the Prince George’s school system, said in an interview in March 2016 that meetings of the task force are closed to the public to allow members to “get a lot done in a very short period of time” and that the panel’s recommendations would be released publicly. However, due to these secrecy and violations, the abuses continues to occur to negligence of the corrupt administration.
