RIVERDALE, MD – A student was arrested in connection with threats of mass violence towards a high school in Prince George’s County.
On Monday, police issued a statement below stating that, a juvenile student of Parkdale High School was arrested. Police say the student created a social media account (Twitter) with a clown theme while in class. The student used this account to send out threats to the school.
The student is being charged with mass of violence and other related charges.
Parkdale High School was not the only school to receive threats. Eleanor Roosevelt High School canceled all outdoor activities on Monday due to threats.
Prince George’s County police said they aim to arrest anyone they can link to the threats that appear to be linked to a nationwide epidemic of threats with a so-called “creepy clown” theme.
Schools in Northern Virginia were also on high alert on Monday after crazed clowns took to social media threatening to kill teachers and students.

However, we understand that you may need additional information for reassurance and we will keep that in mind for future incidents.
The safety of our students is our top priority. Please use this as an opportunity to remind your child to immediately speak to a teacher or school administrator about any safety concerns. We want your child to know our school environment is safe and focused on their academic success.”
