Funeral services were held for Tanya LaRae Washington an educator and Principal who passed away suddenly at her home in Bowie Maryland from unknown causes. Her Family received friends on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Glenarden, 600 Watkins Park Dr., Upper Marlboro, MD 20774 from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. Tanya’s funeral service was held at the same venue (First Baptist Church of Glenarden).
Interment ceremony will be held at a later date at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton, MD.
Tanya spent 19-years with Prince George’s County Public Schools as an educator, including close to three years as the new principal at Parkdale High School. She gave countless hours and immeasurable energy towards a vision of excellence for all students according to the school district.
A petition to rename Parkdale High Library in her honor is currently in progress.

I had the awesome experience to work with as a peer . She also taught both of my children Biology. Her love of the students and spirit to see them succeed will be missed.
