Deonte Carraway, 22, of Glenarden, Md., has been charged with 16 counts of child pornography.

According to Washington Post, the number of children whom Prince George’s County police have linked to a child-pornography case involving a volunteer at an elementary school grew to 16 on Saturday, according to a statement issued by the department.

Authorities also identified the church at which police said at least one child was victimized. It is Zion Praise Tabernacle Lutheran Church on Laurel Bowie Road in Bowie. The Rev. Jaim Edward Gann said his church, Trinity Lutheran, hosts Zion Praise as a “mission church.” Gann said he was “shocked and dismayed.”

Police have said other incidents occurred at the Glenarden Municipal Center, the Theresa Banks Memorial Aquatic Center and Judge Sylvania W. Woods Sr. Elementary School, where the volunteer worked.

Police have charged Deonte Carraway, 22, of Glenarden, Md., with 10 counts of child pornography in connection with about 40 videos that show children performing sex acts.

The number of known victims subsequently grew to 14 on Friday and 16 on Saturday, according to police.

“As our detectives continue working this case, we will update the community only when we learn of any additional locations where abuse took place, uncover substantial developments or place any additional charges in the case,” police said in a statement issued Saturday.

Authorities have said that Carraway admitted to having created the videos.

The case has angered many parents and prompted two civil lawsuits against the Prince George’s county school board, raising questions about how such acts could have occurred without detection and whether the principal had been warned but failed to take action.FullSizeRender4
