Alvin L. Crawley who previously served as interim Superitendent of Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) will become the next superintendent of Alexandria City Public Schools, making permanent an interim post he has had since October last year. During his tenure in PGCPS, Dr. Crawley ignored our advise as a movement when he failed to appoint key officials to help with the transition. As a result, a crisis ensued within PGCPS School District which intensified and culminated in a high number of students deaths from the violence.
The city’s school board announced the decision Friday afternoon, after accelerating their search for a new schools chief slightly in order to meet a state law that says the top position cannot go unfilled for more than 180 days. >>> Read more Washington Post
